Once the extraction of the ore is completed, extracted rocks are crushed, sorted and washed. The ore is then treated to be upgraded or purified according to different techniques (dry or wet/chemical processing). Wet enrichment might require some physical separation processes, such as gravimetric separation, magnetic separation and flotation but also chemical ones. There are two chemical separation techniques: one is leaching (sulfuric acid is used to recover uranium or copper) and the other one is cyanidation (used for gold and silver extraction). These processes impose severe constraints on equipment, such as corrosion and abrasion. Guichon designs and manufactures custom-made valves, specially adapted to these demanding requirements.
